About Me
I came to counselling after a career spanning more than 25 years in business and leadership, working in Los Angeles, New York, London and Brussels. Earlier in my career, I also worked in psychological research at UCLA, exploring aspects of clinical and developmental psychology.
I trained in Transactional Analysis (TA) at the Connexus Institute and hold a Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
Alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor with West Kent Mind, supporting people experiencing a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties.
I bring my experience of different working environments, cultures and stages of life into my practice, alongside a genuine curiosity about people and what makes each of us who we are.
Practice Description
People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Perhaps something has happened, familiar patterns keep repeating, or life simply does not feel quite right.
My approach draws on Transactional Analysis (TA), which explores how our experiences shape the way we see ourselves and relate to others. Sometimes we can understand why we do something and still find ourselves doing it. I am interested in what keeps those patterns going and what might help us find a different way forward.
For me, the relationship we build is central to the work. What happens between us can be just as interesting as what we talk about, particularly when something feels difficult to say or we see things differently.
There is no set formula for therapy. We might explore what is happening in your life now, look at earlier experiences or find other ways to express things. You do not need to arrive with a clear idea of what you want to change. We can work that out together.
I Can Help With
Anxiety and overwhelm, depression and low mood, relationship difficulties, family dynamics, self-esteem and self-worth, identity, grief and loss, life transitions, work-related stress and burnout, feeling stuck, repeating patterns, personal development and questions around meaning and direction in life.
Types of Therapy
My primary approach is Transactional Analysis (TA), with a particular emphasis on relational and existential ways of working.
I believe that understanding ourselves is valuable, but that insight alone does not always lead to change. The therapeutic relationship can offer opportunities to experience ourselves differently, notice familiar responses as they happen and explore new possibilities.
Although talking is often central to therapy, I am also open to working creatively. Depending on what feels useful, we might draw, use imagery, explore dreams or music, or work outdoors.
